Spencer is sitting on the edge of the bed when I walk out of the bathroom after brushing my teeth. His suitcase is packed and against the wall next to the door.

“Do you really have to go?” I say.

“Yes… because if last night is anything to go on… I’m a bad influence and you need to focus on this film.”

I plop down on the bed next to him and lean my head against his arm. I know he’s right… I do need to focus, but I’m still having a hard time coming to grips with the reality that he’s been here for just over a day and he’s leaving already.

“When can you come back?”

“I’ll be back the next time you have a day off.”

“Good.”

I wrap my arm around his waist and sigh. I know I have to get going, but I somehow feel like the rest of the world doesn’t exist when I’m with Spencer… it’s like if I didn’t leave this room nothing would continue to happen out there.

“You should go,” he says, “I don’t want to be responsible for you and Rose both being late.”

“I know….”

We both stand up from the bed and slowly walk toward the door.

“What time is your flight?”

“Noon.”

I turn and wrap my arms around his waist. I look into Spencer’s eyes and try to smile. I’m feeling sad right now because I don’t want him to leave yet, but I’m trying to not let him know that. He leans down and presses his lips to mine. For those few seconds everything else is pushed aside and I don’t have to think about him leaving. Spencer finally pulls away and smiles at me. He doesn’t have to say it—I’m going to be late if I don’t go now.

“Thank you for coming… and last night, that was fun.”

“It was… I’ll see you soon. Call me tonight when you get done with filming.”

“I will.”

He smiles at me and turns me toward the door.

“You have to go.”

“I know.”

We walk out into the living room. Rose jumps up from the couch and walks toward the door. She looks a little tired, but she definitely seems better than she did last night. I was a little worried about how her mom kicking her out would impact her ability to focus and deliver her lines today. She has my copy of the script in her hands… she’s ready to go.

“Good morning,” she says.

“Hey,” Spencer says.

“Thank you both for everything… and thanks for letting me stay here last night. I don’t have a phone to try and call any friends. It was just so late and I wasn’t sure where else to go.”

“You’re welcome,” I say. “You ready to go?”

“Yeah.”

She opens the front door, but stops and turn to Spencer.

“Rose, I’ll meet you at the elevator.”

She lets the door to the room close as I turn and grab Spencer’s shirt.

“I need one more kiss.”

He leans down and gives me exactly what I need and want. The kiss doesn’t last nearly as long as I want, as he lets go and guides me toward the door.
